And another Legend lives on...

On Wednesday, 9 May 2007, the Bon Scott Celebration Concert raised enough money for a statue of the Australian music legend; as well as an additional $50,000 that was donated to Support Act Limited (SAL).

"We are incredibly grateful to the organisers of the Bon Scott Celebration Concert for this generous donation - raised through the efforts of fellow musicians performing to honour one of the greats," said Meryl Gross, Chairperson of SAL. "As the baby boomer population grows older, so do our musical heroes, and many of them are doing it extremely hard. This money will be used to provide relief to those in need and we thank everyone involved with the Bon Scott Project."

Concert organisers, Buzz Bidstrup and Marcus Ahern, presented a $50,000 cheque to the SAL board. They also pledged more money in 2008 from the proceeds of the concert to unveil the completed statue, in Fremantle, WA. Over 10,000 people attended the 2007 Bon Scott Celebration Concert held in February at the Claremont Showground, Perth. The event featured a stellar line-up, including The Angels, Rose Tattoo, The Party Boys, The Screaming Jets, Dave Warner and a host of local Western Australian bands.

Public announcement

The family of Lobby Loyde and Support Act Limited (SAL), wish it to be known that following the Lobby Loyde benefit concert initiated by Billy Thorpe and set up and managed by Amanda Pelman, Michael Chugg and Billy in Melbourne on 28/08/2006, net funds were placed in trust through SAL to distribute to Lobby as required. The benefit raised in excess of $80,000 and Billy Thorpe and Lobby worked out a payment schedule covering Lobby's regular overheads, medical costs and weekly out-of-pocket expenses. Written instructions were provided to SAL by Billy, detailing the agreement and up until Lobby's death, all payments were made by Support Act as proposed.
Lobby's request was that any balance of the trust funds remaining after his death be distributed to his children via his estate. The children have extended their sincere thanks to everyone involved with the concert as well as SAL.
