Several lucky prize winners from Support Act's annual Music in the House event were part of a three and a half hour 'Early Twilight' climb along the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge recently. The participants had all won BridgeClimb tickets as part of the MITH function, held annually at Sydney’s Parliament House, and were accompanied by singer Jade MacRae.

New Board Members Elected

Two new members were elected to the Support Act Board at this week’s AGM, together with long standing Board member, Michael Chugg who stood down and was re-elected. These vacancies were due to the unfortunate death of Billy Thorpe and, after a stint of 10 years, Alex Coroneos stood down and did not stand for re-election.

Tribute

The word Tribute means a gift, testimonial or compliment given in acknowledgment of gratitude or esteem. This seemed a fitting title for the collaborative efforts of some of Australia’s finest musicians, in aid of their ailing friends – Pete Wells of Rose Tattoo and Melbourne’s Lobby Loyde. The music industry lost Pete and Lobby in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Legends of Rock Dinner raises over $12,000 for Support Act

The first, annual “Legends of Rock” dinner, ably organised by the big-hearted folks from Savage Events, was held last Friday 24th October at The Shores Function Centre in Adelaide where over 250 music lovers gathered to witness a sterling line-up of some of the genuine stalwarts of Aussie rock. Stevie Wright, back by a house band of exceptional local players, sang four Easybeats classics, GANGajang played a set packed with hits including “Sounds of Then” and “Gimme Some Lovin’”; Swanee, Tice & Evans, The Beards and Doc Neeson belted out crowd favourites and Sheridan Stewart held the show together, even though some of us were afraid her dress may not have held her together!
