A Special Thank You to Bertie Blackman and Forum5 for the Donation of Profits from Bertie’s Recent Art Exhibition

Support Act would like to thank everyone involved and in particular Bertie, for choosing to support the organisation in this way. Bertie, an ARIA award-winning artist, had her first solo art exhibition at the Mossgreen Gallery Melbourne, and we are pleased to report that all works were sold with profits donated to Support Act. Support Act Victoria’s Michael Snelson and Garry Spry were there on behalf of the charity, and Garry spoke about Support Act and its work.

Support Act would also like to congratulate Bertie on her ARIA win (Best Independent Release) for 'Secrets and Lies' and her shortlisting for the Australian Music Prize. Bertie is up against a talented array of established and new artists including Sarah Blasko, Oh Mercy, Urthboy, Lisa Mitchell, The Mess Hall, Kid Sam, Lucie Thorne and Black Cab, and we wish her all the best. Among the prizes, the winner will receive $30,000 cash courtesy of Support Act founding member PPCA.

Ambition Entertainment

In November 2009, Ambition Entertainment held their inaugural Brisbane Music and Entertainment (BME) networking event at the Gunshop Café in Brisbane. The event featured showcases of new artists and raffles were held to raise funds for Support Act, with prizes generously donated by event sponsors. The post-launch press release is available at this link.

The next BME networking event is planned for 8 March at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Rooftop Terrace, and is shaping up to be bigger and better than the first. For full details please click here.
